We had a new coat of bottom paint and flames added to Thor for our trip south. We plan to leave for Mexico in October and join 37 other boats for the 2011 Fubar starting in Long Beach California. We are anxious to turn left at the Columbia River …

Gulf of Alaska Weather
One of the reasons we made the offshore run from Seattle to Prince William Sound was
to gain experience. A gale in the Gulf of Alaska wasn't exactly the sort of experience
we were hopi…

NINGALOO REEF
Our night at North West Cape was less than pleasant, actually one of our worst as the wind changed to an Easterly and blew 30-35knts. Thank goodness that we have a Nordhavn, and Thankyou Gary for our Flopper Stoppers. The anchor held well, we had 85m chain out, and once daylight and the outgoing tide came we set off. Compounding that, I made a critical mistake resulting in parlous suspense at a very bad time. As much as I swore never to let it happen to me, it did. In t…
The Montebellos
We arrived at the southern channel into the Montebello group of islands at 4pm and as we entered the reef between Dot and Daisy Islands we had a whale come right across our bow only just missed her!! It was then only a few mile north to Main Bay where we anchored for the night on the low tide. Because of the Nuclear Bombing back in the 50’s, we were unable to go ashore so the following day we moved south, very slowly to the Stephenson Channel, during the high tide. There isn’t a lot of …
