First weekend on the boat!!

First weekend on the boat was amazing!!  We had been training Bimini to go up and down a dog ramp for a couple weeks, knowing the fixed docks at the current marina could be a challenge.  But, with a little encouragement, she went up and down without issue!  Granted the water levels were up so the degree of incline on the ramp was negligible at best.  But overall a successful endeavor for her!

We spent the first day going through the multiple cabinets, finding what items were left by the previous owner, what we might want to keep and what we knew we wouldn’t.  That was an all-day event.  The free table at our marina was overflowing with things we knew we wouldn’t need!  The first day ended with sundowners on the dock reconnecting with old friends and making a few new friends.

Day two was spent scrubbing the boat!  This is by far the best way to learn all of the nooks and crannies, all of the spider cracks, or gelcoat dinks.  The boat will need painted someday, but a bad finish doesn’t sink a boat.  That is a worry for another day.  Most of the finish is in good shape.  The decks are solid.  The interior is beautiful!!  With all of the dirt gone, she looks amazing!

So we have taken possession, moved some items onboard, and have made lists of what the new boat needs to be our weekend home.  In the next few months, we will learn how to operate our new boat here in this marina where we have friends who won’t be shy with advice or with helping us to laugh at our mistakes!

Being back on the water, even if we haven’t left the slip yet, just feels right…….

The adventure continues and pictures will come soon!

And the Adventure continues…….

More to follow soon!  Tom and I are excited to begin the next adventure and look forward to sharing it with everyone!!

Thank you for teaching us that the arch enemy of perfection is good enough.
Thank you for the adventure, the excitement, the solitude, the friends, the dogs, the revelry, the jello shots.
Thank you for the education in marine mechanics, electronics, canvas and communications.
Thank you for the sunrises, the sunsets,  the dolphins, for showing us parts of our state that we wouldn’t otherwise have found or appreciated.
Thank you most importantly for all of the safe passages, for always being ready for a new journey and always bringing us back safely to home port.
For all of this and more, we will always be very thankful to you, our Skinny Dippin’.

While there will most certainly be another Skinny Dippin’ in our future, there will never be another one just like you.  Thank you for so many fabulous memories.  We only hope that your new owner will love you as much as we have and that you will take him on as many amazing journeys.
