Tarpum Bay

We leave Rock Sound and stop in Tarpum Bay for a walk about and lunch.  Barbies is a true Bahamian experience, local fish fried or “steamed” chicken, peas & rice and my new favorite pumpkin & rice!

Spooled!

Crossing to Eluthera with Ken and Carol on board, the captain needs to use the head, by the time I return Ken declared “out of line!’, snap!  We just got spooled, a large tuna we think.

Shroud Cay, Exumas Land & Sea Park

With Ken & Carol on board we travel north to Shroud Cay/Hawksbill.  Mike & Barb on Goosebumps had told us about this spot, check it out. Carol’s photo says it all!

Black Point

We stop at Black Point Settlement with Ken & Carol. A local church group is hosting a fund raiser.  BBQ ribs, chicken, slaw, mac & cheese and peas & rice.  True Bahamian fare!  We take ours to the Scorpio Bar & Restaura…

Mahi!

Another nice mahi, Ken brings this one in, we enjoy it pan fried, blackened, mahi “crab” cakes (yummy) and ceviche (awesome).  Great ride from Georgetown to Great Guana, anchored at Jack’s Bay, White Point.

Red Shanks

We had a hard time finding enough “swing room” until we got to Sand Dollar Beach.  I like at least a 5:1 scope so in 20′ of water plus our 8′ bow we need a fair bit of space, at least I do to be comfortable in a blow.  We decide with the fore…

Chat & Chill

Ken & Carol join us in Georgetown, we “bounce” our way across the harbour in the dingy to the anchorage at Monument Beach.  We all get settled in.  The next day we go to the beach, back into town for a “beer run” and then rendezvo…

Georgetown

In Georgetown we find Ann Louise at the Marina, chat with Bill and his crew after shopping.  In town itself Sammy gets a haircut, we meet up with Jane & Halitia from Escapade and Karen from Dream Weaver.  This ends up in a dinner invitati…

Great Guana to Georgetown

Maybe we already mentioned this but it has been very windy here this year, temps rather cool.  Water is 74-75 degrees and the air temps are 74-78F.  I like it about 5-10 degrees warmer, in fact 80-85 air temp is perfect.  It is very dry …

Jack’s Bay Cove

wonderful spot in a trade wind .  We kayak the rocky shore, looks like we should have snorkeled here.  Then to the  beach, nice, quiet, no Sea-Doos here.
