Bon Voyage Skinny Dippin’

Bon Voyage Skinny Dippin’!
The time has come to say farewell to our dearest friend.  We’d like to thank you for so many things.
Thank you for a kind and gentle introduction to the awesome world of boating and cruising.
Thank you for the many wondrous moments onboard and underway.
Thank you for teaching us how to be better teammates and better companions.
Thank you for helping us to understand the true meaning of flexibility both in boat yoga and in scheduling.
Thank you for teaching us about weather, wind and water.
Thank you for teaching us that the arch enemy of perfection is good enough.
Thank you for the adventure, the excitement, the solitude, the friends, the dogs, the revelry, the jello shots.
Thank you for the education in marine mechanics, electronics, canvas and communications.
Thank you for the sunrises, the sunsets,  the dolphins, for showing us parts of our state that we wouldn’t otherwise have found or appreciated.
Thank you most importantly for all of the safe passages, for always being ready for a new journey and always bringing us back safely to home port.
For all of this and more, we will always be very thankful to you, our Skinny Dippin’.

While there will most certainly be another Skinny Dippin’ in our future, there will never be another one just like you.  Thank you for so many fabulous memories.  We only hope that your new owner will love you as much as we have and that you will take him on as many amazing journeys.

Fair Winds and Following Seas to our fair Skinny Dippin’.  Safe travels to you and all who cruise aboard you.
**To our followers, this blog will be reactivated when the next adventure appears. Thank you for your interest in our adventures.  We look forward to what till come next and look forward to sharing it with you as well.

April 8 – Jacksonville, FL

Ortega Yacht Club Marina

“It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” —Laura Ingalls Wilder

We woke to a cloudy wet morning…thunderstorms pushed through last night ahead of a front moving this way. We are waiting on a new fuel pump for our dinghy’s outboard, hopefully it will be here on Wednesday and we can be on our way up the St. John’s River soon.

Since it was going to be a wet day, we decide to have lunch out and take in a movie. We had lunch at Pele’s Wood Fire at great little spot on Park Street with a wood fired oven. We took in a movie at Sun Ray Cinema in the Five Point neighborhood. Five Point is a historic area of Jacksonville built in the 1920’s as a commercial district catering to the rapidly growing residential areas surrounding it. Today it’s full of funky colorful little restaurants and shops. The Sun Ray Cinema began as The Riverside Theater in 1927 and was the first theater in Florida equipped to show talking pictures. The theater has been used as some form of entertainment since it was opened over 80 years ago. It shows a lot of Indy type movies and is an experience in itself. We saw The Grand Budapest Hotel.  By the time we came out of the movie the sun was out and we enjoyed a beautiful evening on the boat.

Short Time in Georgia – Fernandina Beach, FL to Hilton Head, SC

The “crews” of Guided Discovery and Present Moment took a well deserved day off on Monday (April 7). Justification, as if we need one, was the fact that we had been traveling for five days and the weather.  The storm that had been to our north on …

Day 88 – 365 Project…Dreary, Rainy Day

Welcome to day 88 of  365 photos…I spent part of this dreary, rainy day sitting at the breakfast nook cleaning up files and programs on my old MacBook Pro so I could send it to our daughter in Maine. I decided to make this my photo for today.  Even though the day was so dreary,… Continue Reading
