Delft, NL

The city of Delft in South Holland is known as the home of Dutch Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer and as the major 17th-century producer of Delftware, a Dutch ceramic product styled after Chinese porcelain. Much of the city dates from that period and is remarkably well-preserved, making it a popular day-trip destination in the…

Day Dreaming in Winter about Summer

As I sit here at the kitchen counter looking out at the falling snow I’m wondering just how long it will be before we can chop a hole in the ice and get Tourist back in operation. Not anytime soon from the looks of it.

So as I often do when faced with reality, I space off into my happy place…..On the water!

Here are a few random pictures of some past happenings.

A colorful meal being prepared by Mike.

Checking on the neighbors.

Nancy & Pam solving the worlds problems.

Eirean heading out. (Mike & Nancy)

Bill, Pam, & Barb relaxing on the bow.

Mike lookin patriotic on July 3rd.

Raft ups waiting for July 3rd fireworks.

Setting a stern anchor to keep the armada in place.

Captain “Fiddle F…” trying to figure out his camera.

The start of the air show.

The highlight of the show. An F-18.

Trouble comes in fours.

What’s for dinner? KFC of course! It’s tradition.

Princess Chair raft up.

Southbound tow.

It’s been a few weeks since I started this posting. In that time we have accumulated 39 inches of snow and recorded a low temperature of -29 at our home. The river is frozen all the way across and Tourist is resting comfortably (although cold) inside a building at Island City Harbor in Sabula, Iowa. With more snow predicted it could be awhile before we’re floating again. It’s enough to make a guy take a drink!

Red Head has Landed

Dylan, Dee Dee, and Dora arrived at Great Harbour Cay Marina this morning after a trip across the Bahama Bank yesterday and a night at anchor outside the harbor.

It’s been 3 years since Dylan and Dee Dee were here. Of course, it’s Dora’s first time.

She’s pretty excited. Follow the Red Head crew on their latest adventure, Twelve Sandy Paws.

Next Stop…

The Bahamas!

And Away We Go!

Yesterday was the kids’ final trip to the dog park at Stock Island Marina Village.

Today the Red Head crew left Key West to anchor at Rodriguez Key.

Tomorrow we take off for the Bahamas. Stay tuned for Dylan, Dee Dee, and Dora’s next big adventure – Twelve Sandy Paws.

Will the spoiling never end?

Dylan, Dee Dee, and Dora hope not. Kristen and Wayne paid the crew a visit last weekend.Of course, Mom and Dad loved spending time with them but really it was all about spoiling the kids. And they did a terrific job! We all miss you guys and hope to see…

Haarlem, NL

Teyler’s Museum of Wonder in Haarlem, opened in 1784, is the oldest museum in the Netherlands. It was funded to foster an interest in arts and sciences both through research and sharing discoveries with the public. Much of the museum has been preserved intact and entering feels a bit like stepping back into the 18th…

February 2019 Update on Us

Our big news is that we have moved back to San Diego! The San Francisco Bay Area was nice, and we did enjoy the boating up there, but we are deeply rooted in San Diego. Eric has returned to work at DivX, and he is excited by the new opportunities there. Keith is back at … Continue reading February 2019 Update on Us

We apologize for the gap year(s)

After almost two years of not touching the blog, I decided today to check out where and what the other blogs we used to follow are doing now.  Was surprised to see our friends on M/V Tourist are going thru similar situations.

We have not sold …
